What do I need to Hire a Vehicle?
  • Your driving licence
  • Your National insurance number
  • The code provided from the DVLA for your online licence information
  • 2 x Forms of ID. Utility bill / Bank statement confirming your current address (needs to be a local address) and driving licence address. (Must be within 60 days of rental date). One ID must contain a photograph if your licence does not contain one.
  • A credit card to pay for your hire
  • Any additional drivers will need to produce the same documents as the principle renter.
  • If moving we require your forwarding address.

Age Categories to Hire a Vehicle

HIRERS/DRIVERS AGED 22-24

Maybe permitted at the discretion of our insurance provider. Additional driver information will be required.

Must have held a full UK driving licence for at least 5 years.

Licence must be free from any convictions/endorsements.

Must have an accident free record.

Basic Accidental Damage excess is £1000.

There is an additional daily charge depending on the type of vehicle required. Speak with your local branch office for further information.

HIRERS/DRIVERS AGED 25 AND OVER

Must have held a full driving licence for at least 5 years.

A basic Accidental Damage excess of £750 applies.

MPV’S

Hirers/drivers must be aged 25 or over.

Must have held a full licence for at least 5 years.

A basic Accidental Damage excess of £750 applies.

What Vehicle Can I Hire with My Licence?

Category B includes Cars, 4x4’s, light commercial vehicle up to and including Luton box van (maximum weight 3.500kgs) and MPV’s with no more than 8 passenger seats.

I have Penalty Points - Can I Still Hire a Vehicle?

It will depend on why and when your endorsements were issued but we do accept licences with minor penalty points. It is at the discretion of our insurance provider.

I don't have a UK Licence - Can I Still Hire a Vehicle?

Yes, but you must provide your Drivers Licence showing your entitlement (an International Driving Licence is required) and two forms of documentation showing your temporary address whilst staying in the UK and a passport.

Can I Have an Additional Driver?

You can have as many additional drivers that you require. There is a charge for each additional driver, and these charges are applied on a daily basis. Each category of vehicle has slightly different rates and these rates start from £4 per day.

What is CDW?

Collision Damage Waiver - Is your standard vehicle insurance protection with an excess that can be reduced with excess protection or CDW (collision damage waiver)

Can I hire a Vehicle on a Long Term Basis?

Yes, a vehicle can be hired long or short term, speak with us on 01224 621002 to arrange a quotation at favourable rates.

What is the Minimum Hire Period?

Our minimum hire period is 4 hours for commercial vehicles and 24 hours for cars. We also offer an overnight hire from 4.45pm to 8.30am next day for the same as a 4 hour rate.

What is the Refund/Cancellation Policy?

Transit Vans and Cars

No refund will be given for cancellations made within 48 hours of the hire start time. No refunds will be given for bookings on Saturdays & Sundays, and special dates unless we can re-hire the vehicle to cover the original booking times and recoup the hire charge in which case we will only charge the minimum admin fee of £10.

Hire dates with more than 48 hours’ notice can be changed once with no charge, thereafter an admin fee of £10 per change will apply.

Luton Vans

No refunds will be given for cancellations of any Luton vans booked with less than 28 days’ notice unless we can re-hire the vehicle to cover the original booking times and recoup the hire charge in which case we will only charge the minimum admin fee of £10.

Early Returns

No refunds will be given for the first 48 hours of any early returns.

Can I take the Hire Vehicle out of the UK?

Sorry, but our current insurer will not cover any hires outside the UK.

Can I use my own insurance during the hire?

Only business users can use their own insurance. 24 hours’ notice normally required.

Do you have customer parking?

We do not offer customer parking, but there is free on road parking on Sundays and various free parking locations nearby at all other times.

Do you have a mileage charge?

Here are details of how our mileage charges are calculated.

For online bookings:

4 Hour - 100 miles no mileage charge

Overnight - 100 miles no mileage charge

1 - 27 days - 100 miles per day no mileage charge

28 days+ - 2000 miles no mileage charge

For bookings made over the telephone:

4 Hour - 100 miles no mileage charge

Overnight - 100 miles no mileage charge

1 - 5 days - 200 miles per day no mileage charge

6 - 7 days - 1000 miles no mileage charge

7 - 28 days - 140 miles per day no mileage charge

A mileage charge of 15 p per mile for cars and small vans comes into effect after the daily allowance and for Luton Vans 25p per mile after the daily allowance.

What is your fuel policy?

All vehicles are provided with fuel. It is your responsibility upon returning the vehicle to ensure the tank is refuelled to the correct level. Otherwise, we will refuel the tank and charge accordingly plus a £10 admin fee. Please note this cost is greater than standard forecourt prices. We store very little fuel on our premises.

Do You Supply Child Car Seats?

We have a limited supply of child car seats/booster seats. Please enquire at your local branch office for a quotation.
